Brick Program - Hutchins Street Square Alumni Plaza

"The first groups of bricks have been laid and grouted -- and the legacy began. Over 4,000 bricks, each stamped with a personalized message, were the finishing touch to the new alumni plaza located on the east side of the Hutchins Street Square Community Center. The plaza, designed by Wenell-Mattheis-Bowe architects in Lodi was built by local contractor Ron Yacopetti. Plagued by the unusually wet winter, work days were hit-or-miss since the ground breaking. The delay did work to our advantage, however, since many Lodians witnessed the torn-up front lawn and rushed to make sure their brick was purchased.

The bricks provide an edge around the poured concrete plaza with an intricately designed 'intersection.' Our bricklayers were extremely patient with our staff and volunteers as we attempted to get the right bricks in the right place."

The Hutchins Street Square Brick Program has been a wonderful opportunity for the citizens of Lodi to support the Square and memorialize family members, life events, friends, and . . .

We also provide gift cards for gifts or memorials. Each brick can be purchased for $60 with the proceeds directed to repaying the rebuilding loans.

We will lay bricks approximately twice per year. Hurry! As there are less than 2,000 brick "spots" left on the plaza!

At the request of our many donors, we have made the attempt to keep families and friends together -- please understand if we cannot honor your request or if your bricks are scattered; there are many hands working on this project.
